During the winters, temperatures are usually warm enough to wear short-sleeved shirts and sweaters, but they may be colder in northern areas. The average nighttime lows in the winter are between 35 degF and 50 degF; the daytime highs range from 70 degF to 90 degF.

As a business hub, Dallas's economy is dominated by technology and information services industries. The city is home to a large concentration of computer hardware and semiconductor manufacturing and telecommunications service firms, as well as software production, publishing, and advertising firms. Other significant economic sectors include the oil industry, aerospace manufacturing, and clothing manufacture.
